CS TimeClock USB Firmware Update instructions 1. Extract release_xxxx.zip (xxxx is the version number e.g. the filename for release 1.15a will be release_115a.zip) downloaded from the www.cstimeclock.com website. 2. Copy the \release folder and the contained files to the root of your USB Thumb drive e.g. after copying the folder, if the drive letter of your thumb drive is E:, the path will be: E:\release. 3. E:\release must contain the following files: new.sh new.tar.gz new.txt 4. Plug the thumb drive into an available USB port on the clock. 5. Enter #73 (Clock Menu, Device, Update Firmware). 6. Enter the supervisor / administrator card number followed by the # key or swipe the card. 7. Enter * (No) when prompted to Update from Web. 8. Enter # (Yes) when prompted to Update from USB. 9. Select whether to Force an update or not. 10. The clock will check the USB thumb drive and compare the firmware versions. a. If the firmware on the thumb drive is a later version, the update will proceed and the clock will reboot. The update should be done in about 3 minutes. b. If the firmware on the clock is the same or a later version than the one on the thumb drive, the clock will display: “No update needed”. c. The clock will displayed “Failed” if there’s a problem with the files or the file location on the thumb drive.
